Film Photography

When I started my course at university, I was introduced to shooting on film. This was something I had never done and was excited to try. I found shooting the film quite challenging as I was used to being able to see what I'd taken straight away and being able to shoot as little or as many photos as I want at a particular time. Because I was borrowing the Nikon F65 from university, I had to shoot a whole roll of film at once, rather than taking my time which was hard for me. I also found processing and printing my photos rather challenging as it is quite hard to get to grips with at first. However, towards the end of the two projects we had to shoot on film, I was getting quite confident with using the darkroom equipment and was pretty happy with some of my results:

After doing these two projects, I definitely see the advantages of learning to shoot on film and print and process in the darkroom. At the time, however, I found it to be quite tedious and preferred the speed of shooting and processing with digital. Looking back, I still much prefer shooting digital, but I think I would revisit film in the future.
